Description
Site improvements included parking for 200 cars, future parking
for an additional 50 cars and landscape of an urban site formerly
covered with residential properties.
The
building includes 11,320 square feet for administrative offices,
student lounge, classrooms, conference learning center, computer
lab and a medical teaching lab. Plans also include 9,520 square
feet of unfinished space for future expansion.
The
building site is on a prominent axis between Battle Creek's Historic
Federal Center building and the west end of downtown Michigan Avenue.
The context of the building and prominence of its site were important
factors in the form and placement of the building. These elements
had to be balanced within a tight budget and construction schedule.
